This summer Clint and I were spoiled to be taken on an all expense paid trip to Mackinac Island in Michigan. We are fortunate enough that EVERY year that Clint has sold product for Sound Off Signal, we have been a top seller and qualified for these different "reward incentive trips."
This one was one that I will NEVER forget!
We flew into Detroit and caught a shuttle to a little tiny town where we spent the night until it was time to catch the ferry to Mackinac Island the next day.
This large and beautiful hotel called "The Grand" is where we were staying! It is the same hotel where the film "Somewhere In Time" was filmed with Jane Seymore and Christopher Reeves. It was a classic and I felt SO lucky to get to stay there!
When we got off the ferry and walked onto the island, I instantly felt like I was in Disneyland!
There are no motorized vehicles allowed on the island, so all of the forms of transportation are either horse or bike.
We climbed into a horse drawn taxi that took us right up to our hotel.
…and literally right to the front door.
The rooms were so classic and Victorian style, just like in the movie that I saw filmed there years ago...
It wasn't quite what we were expecting, but it was still fun nonetheless!
They say that the porch of The Grand is the longest porch in America. (And I believe it!)
The views were breathtaking and so beautiful!
From the moment we arrived and checked into our room, we headed out and explored the island.
There was so much to see!
But of course, one of the very first things we saw that we wanted to stop at was the ice cream shop right outside our hotel. ;)
The ice cream was SO yummy! It did NOT disappoint!
Fun and fancy old fashioned phone booths to use..
..but only for pictures of course since they are really obsolete!
We rented some bikes for about an hour since we had time to kill before the welcome reception that would be hosted on the porch by Sound Off.
Not only was it fun to see all of the history on the island..
..but it was the perfect temperature, and SO beautiful everywhere we went!
There were times and areas where you could literally believe that you were the only ones on the island!
So many trees, and the lake was so big and beautiful that you could easily mistake it for the ocean if you didn't know!
Beautiful views!
But I especially love the views with Clint in them.
He makes me feel like such a lucky girl. :)
The museum that was on the island of all of the horse drawn carriages was so fun to see.
It felt like we had gone back in time.
I also LOVED the horse drawn snow sleighs that are up on the top in this picture below...
A Christmas lover's dream!
Clint is a history buff and really enjoyed reading all about everything. It was truly such a delight to be there.
The downtown shops were so fun to visit as well!
For some reason, Mackinac Island is also famous for their handmade fudge, and so we just HAD to give it a try. ;)
We stood on the street and watched through the windows as they worked the fudge, and we smiled every time we saw these majestic animals taking people around the town.
By the time we finished up our first day on Mackinac Island, I was in heaven.
I was also so grateful for the people who planned this trip for us because it seemed like a lot of logistical planning, and also a pretty penny to say the least!
Like I said, I was so grateful to get to be here, because I don't know that I ever would have made it here myself without the invitation. I had actually never even heard of this place until we looked it up when we learned we were going there.
It was fun, beautiful, and so romantic! What more could a girl ask for?
Another few days there?
Ok. :)
