Happy 50th Birthday Sweetheart

Happy 50th Birthday to my eternal companion, best friend, and sweetest cuddle boy ever.
Today is a special day, and Clint has taken the day off from work to spend it with me.
So really it's like it's BOTH of our birthdays because I'm getting spoiled too!!!

We are heading to Park City to go for a bike ride on the trails, then to stay the night.
We will also get to go to the temple again in the morning to be there for Clint's dad to be sealed to his parents.
Another awesome birthday gift! :)
I hope you know how much I love you and that you feel it today and everyday!

Mackinac Island - Day1

This summer Clint and I were spoiled to be taken on an all expense paid trip to Mackinac Island in Michigan. We are fortunate enough that EVERY year that Clint has sold product for Sound Off Signal, we have been a top seller and qualified for these different "reward incentive trips."
This one was one that I will NEVER forget!

We flew into Detroit and caught a shuttle to a little tiny town where we spent the night until it was time to catch the ferry to Mackinac Island the next day.
This large and beautiful hotel called "The Grand" is where we were staying! It is the same hotel where the film "Somewhere In Time" was filmed with Jane Seymore and Christopher Reeves. It was a classic and I felt SO lucky to get to stay there!
When we got off the ferry and walked onto the island, I instantly felt like I was in Disneyland!
There are no motorized vehicles allowed on the island, so all of the forms of transportation are either horse or bike.
We climbed into a horse drawn taxi that took us right up to our hotel.
…and literally right to the front door.
The rooms were so classic and Victorian style, just like in the movie that I saw filmed there years ago...
It wasn't quite what we were expecting, but it was still fun nonetheless!
They say that the porch of The Grand is the longest porch in America. (And I believe it!)
The views were breathtaking and so beautiful!
From the moment we arrived and checked into our room, we headed out and explored the island.
There was so much to see!
But of course, one of the very first things we saw that we wanted to stop at was the ice cream shop right outside our hotel. ;)
The ice cream was SO yummy! It did NOT disappoint!
Fun and fancy old fashioned phone booths to use..
..but only for pictures of course since they are really obsolete!
We rented some bikes for about an hour since we had time to kill before the welcome reception that would be hosted on the porch by Sound Off.
Not only was it fun to see all of the history on the island..
..but it was the perfect temperature, and SO beautiful everywhere we went!
There were times and areas where you could literally believe that you were the only ones on the island!
So many trees, and the lake was so big and beautiful that you could easily mistake it for the ocean if you didn't know!
Beautiful views!

But I especially love the views with Clint in them.
He makes me feel like such a lucky girl. :)
The museum that was on the island of all of the horse drawn carriages was so fun to see.
It felt like we had gone back in time.
I also LOVED the horse drawn snow sleighs that are up on the top in this picture below...
A Christmas lover's dream!
Clint is a history buff and really enjoyed reading all about everything. It was truly such a delight to be there.
The downtown shops were so fun to visit as well!
For some reason, Mackinac Island is also famous for their handmade fudge, and so we just HAD to give it a try. ;)
We stood on the street and watched through the windows as they worked the fudge, and we smiled every time we saw these majestic animals taking people around the town.
By the time we finished up our first day on Mackinac Island, I was in heaven.
I was also so grateful for the people who planned this trip for us because it seemed like a lot of logistical planning, and also a pretty penny to say the least!
Like I said, I was so grateful to get to be here, because I don't know that I ever would have made it here myself without the invitation. I had actually never even heard of this place until we looked it up when we learned we were going there.
It was fun, beautiful, and so romantic! What more could a girl ask for?
Another few days there?
Ok. :)

Always Fun With Family

I love how much Clint's family loves to be together. To celebrate anything and everything, but especially birthdays!
My sister in law Sara (Curt's wife) threw herself the most amazing 30th birthday party ever!
Complete with donuts and cake and tubs of ice cream, and even a pink white chocolate fountain for everything sweet and yummy to fondue!
She also had the most beautiful castle looking white bouncy house set up for all of the kids to play in. :)
I'm just not sure which of these "kids" had the most fun in it. :)
I was cracking up watching Easton trying to keep control of his little "top heavy" little body!
It's hard enough for these little ones to stay upright just walking let alone jumping in a bounce house!
Ok, fine.
I'll come and jump with you. :)
It was really fun to just let loose and let our inner kids come out! :)
I loved that so many of our awesome and fun family celebrations happened while Kierra was here for that 3 weeks.
I miss her everyday and always LOVE the time we get to spend with her and her family.
Especially with this little cutie right here...Easton (and his dinglehopper.;)
Happy Birthday Sara!
Thanks for sharing your birthday fun with us!
We love you!

Read the Book of Mormon

This summer the Relief Society was presented with a challenge by my presidency that was different and unlike any other Book of Mormon reading challenge that I've ever had.
We challenged the sisters to choose any single book within the Book of Mormon and dive into it over the summer. Read it, and reread it, and all the while trying to "see the good" in the Book of Mormon.
We held a special campfire devotional at the end of the summer to discuss what we learned, and to testify of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

It was an experience for me that I will never forget.

I began reading 3rd Nephi, and then decided that maybe I wanted to read Alma since I was sending off a missionary soon...;)
But then my son in law Riley challenged our family to read the entire Bool of Mormon in 30 days with him, and so THAT is what I did.
I didn't get the entire book read in 30 days though. It took me 47 days.
In that 47 days, I learned a lot about how reading the Book of Mormon often (in all of my spare time in fact) helps me to see and hear the Spirit speak to me in a whole new language. One of, clarity, consistency, and even more often.
As often as I will turn my thoughts to drawing closer to my Heavenly Father, that is how I often I WILL become closer, and strengthen my relationship with Him.
It will also increase my effectiveness in my service to Him because I am better in tune to hear the things that He needs of me,  and wants me to do and learn.
I love the Book of Mormon and I testify of it's divine words, messages, real life experiences within it's pages, and how immersing ourselves in it will bring us peace to our day and to our minds, and that we will grow ever closer to our loving Heavenly Father.
It makes me excited to read and learn of the next task that Heavenly Father has in store for me to do, and to learn the next insight that He is ready and willing to teach me if I am ready to read, listen, and then act.
I am so grateful for the Book of Mormon, and for my testimony of it.
It is truly priceless to me!

The Cabin and the Zoo

Nothing says summer like a trip to the cabin, or a trip to the zoo with Grandma and cousins...so we did both!
Ava and Kambriella
Kesslyn and her love of the Merry-Go-Round, the snow leopard!
She just LOVES anything CAT!
Kesslyn and momma ;)
Kierra and busy bubba Easton
Kierra, Easton, and Kambriella
..and the little sissy Kesslyn
The bears were so cute lounging around in the sun and right in front of us!
Emmit and Kesslyn

Kierra with some of her favorite people AND her favorite animal! ;)
Best Sissy's
Easton and Kierra on the train

One of the things I love is how much Grandma Trickett LOVES taking her grandkids to the zoo.
One day I hope to be as fun of a grandma as she has been for my kids.
Happy Summer everyone!
