June 1st was officially the first day of summer, AND the day we celebrated this cutie!!!

For Kambriella's birthday party this year she wanted to have a beach themed party, so we took her friends and went to Flow Rider!

These cute girls really knew how to surf the waves!!! (Kind of...;)

The girls had a blast and got to warm up in the hot tub after the surfing was done.

After Flow Rider, we took the girls back to our house and they got cleaned up and we started round 2 of the celebration!

Lots more friends came and there were plenty of food, drinks, and games for all!

Happy Birthday Kambriella!

On Sunday morning it was Kambriella's actual birthday, so we woke her up with breakfast in bed!

We went to church, had the family over for dinner, and opened up her gifts!

She got lots of cute things and even some new decorations for her updated "teen" bedroom. ;)

The next great thing that happened in June was when Gavin went to the Bountiful Temple and got his endowments!

This was an amazing experience for him and for me, and for a lot of our family for that matter...

We had about 30 members of our family join us for the temple session, and Gavin's best cousin Drake who is also serving a mission, got his endowments at the same time as Gavin!

What a special and memorable day for these boys and their families!

They are not here in the photo, but Gavin's Grandma Trickett that is in heaven had her 3 brothers reunited in this temple session with Gavin and Drake! This was the first time that all three of them were in the temple together, which made this an even MORE special day! Uncle Harold, Uncle Kent, and Uncle Mike. SO special!

After we were done at the temple, we all went to Chuck-A-Rama for a buffet with dinner with even more family that wasn't able to be at the temple.

We also got to take my mom to the Hale Center Theater with us while she was in town!

We had a few lunch dates with the brothers this summer too!

And then we had some unfortunate things happen too, but in the end, everything turned out OK.

Kambriella went to FSY at BYU but ended up having to come home after the first day because she got sick. I took her to the doctor where she was tested positive for strep throat!

We got her on an antibiotic (Amoxicillin) that she ended up being allergic to! ;(

These pictures here are of her the morning she woke up to go to girls camp, but ended up NOT being able to go because of this allergic reaction.

Kambriella ended up with her lips swollen and hives all over her body, and the doctors advised us that she needed to stay home from camp in order to be closer to a hospital in case this swelling worsened and spread to her throat...

...which it did!!! ;( ;( ;(

Fortunately for us, she did NOT go to camp, and on Saturday morning when she woke up with her lips and throat swelling, we went straight back to the E.R.

We were there for about 5 hours before they felt like they had things under control enough to let us go home. From here on out she was able to get better, especially once all of the amoxicillin was out of her system! Poor Kambriella missed FSY and Girls Camp, but was such a trooper and got all better so we could enjoy the next big thing on our summer bucket list....Lake POwell!

Then, the next week we finally made it to Lake Powell!!!

This was a bitter sweet time at Lake Powell because we knew that shortly after we went home that Gavin would be leaving on his mission! So, we held onto every special moment for as long as we could...

We LOVE the Brown's and their son Trey was also getting ready to depart on his mission this summer too! So we all had fun celebrating together! Trey and Gavin have been buddies since they were in elementary school together!

Also on our summer bucket list (especially before Gavin left for his mission) was a trip to Classic Skating! Everyone had a ball skating, and even little Rodney got to enjoy the night on the rink while Carew pushed him around in his stroller. ;)

Then, on June 30th, we got to listen to Gavin give his farewell talk at church, and then we had a great big gathering at our house after to visit with family and friends, and eat good food. ;)
