Some People I Love

Summer is such a fun time to be outside and enjoy the good weather, so we decided to meet up with Tiffany and Colby on Thursday evening and have dinner at Ruth's Diner up Immigration Canyon.
It's beautiful there and such a fun and happy atmosphere with live music and the lights outside, and the sound of the river rushing in the background. It was a fun night!
At ne point it started to cool down and Kesslyn got a little cold, so I told her to put her arms in her shirt! She did, and she looked like a little dinosaur. :)  As soon as I pulled out my camera though, she hurried and pulled her arms back out.
Of course Colby did it with her, and she thought he was a little silly...;)
I love spending time with the people that I love!
Also, LOOK at this amazing lunch I got to have too! It was the yummiest Brussel sprouts and strawberry pecan salad!
Emily, Kesslyn, and I  took Brian Aguayo out to lunch for his birthday. This is my good friend Jeanette (who passed away), her son who is also like a brother to us now. We have been spending many hours at their home trying to help him clean out all of his mother's things so that he can get the house ready to rent. He is a good son, and took wonderful care of his sweet mom. We are happy to help him, and taking a break from the house to treat him to lunch seemed like the right thing to do!
Also, on Friday, Clint and I were able to attend the sealing of Charlee Allen and Collin Hoffman in the Ogden Temple.
It was such a beautiful and hot day, so we hung out in the shade a lot. ;)
We even snuck across the street to the Farr's Ice-cream store to snag a cool treat before the wedding luncheon,,,Shhh ;) It was our little secret.
Heather has been my good friend for about 25 years now, and I love her a little more every single day that I'm alive. ;)
I love her children, I love her siblings, and I love her parents. They are like a second family to me.
I was so happy for Collin and Princess Charlee.
Congratulations on the first day of your happily FOREVER after!

Best Friends

With Gavin and Kambriella off to trek, that left Kesslyn and me as the lucky winners of the Wednesday lunch date with Clint! :)
Subway sandwiches always taste WAY better when you are eating them together.

Kesslyn also got to invite her little friend Annie over for a playdate yesterday. It was so much fun watching these two catch up with each other. They had a great time. They even helped me deliver dinner to our friend Maggi (who has broken her foot) before we took the scooters and rode to the park. Clint met us there after work and it was such a nice night to be out. I loved sitting with him and talking...he is my very best friend. I am so lucky to have him.
And Kesslyn and Annie are lucky to have each other!

Trek and the 4th of July

July 5th - the day after our country's Independence Day, Gavin and Kambriella set out on the Riverton Summerhill Stake Youth Trek! They were excited and SO CUTE!
Gavin was walking for his 5th great grandfather, Reynolds Cahoon.
Reynolds was a faithful saint and leader in the early days of the church. He was on the temple committee when it was time for the Nauvoo temple to be built, and he was also a member of one of the first stake presidencies.
One day shortly after the birth of his youngest don, Reynolds was at home when the Prophet Joseph Smith was walking by. Reynolds asked the prophet to please come in and bless his baby. When he did, he gave the baby the name of Mahonri Moriancumer Cahoon. The prophet Joseph told Reynolds that it was revealed to him in the blessing that this should be the baby's name, and that this was also the name of the brother of Jared.
He seems like a cool dude.
Kambriella is trekking for her 4th great grandmother Janet Urquhart.
She was born on July 8th, 1804 in Invernes-shire Scotland. She arrived in New York on the S.S. Minnesota, had 12 children, and is buried in the Salt Lake City cemetery. She doesn't have a headstone there, but she is burred next to her husband James Leathem's headstone.
One thing that is really cool about this, is that there is a castle called the Urquhart castle that is found in Scotland, and we will be visiting there in just a few weeks! Clint and I are taking my mom, and my sister Tiffany and her husband Colby. We will be seeing for the first time the area where our family actually came from.
We are SO excited!
Yesterday we also had a fun party at the Gailey's home celebrating the 4th of July.
It was a fun evening complete with piƱata's for the kids and teenagers...
Lots of fun games like missionary tag, 9 Square, Bottle Bash, and Cornhole...
Yummy good food, and lots of catching up with everyone!
Gavin brought his friend Meagan, and some of the other cousins also had some friends there too. ;)
My sister Tiffany and Colby were there too. ;)
I am so grateful for the freedoms that we enjoy, and I know that it is hard to comprehend all that has been sacrificed for us...but I am still SO GRATEFUL...especially for my freedom of religion. I am so grateful that we get to worship how, where, and what we may.
Happy Independence Day everyone! And happy trekking Gavin and Kambriella!

Que Alegria ~ What a Joy

Every Monday we get to facetime our favorite missionary, Elder Trickett!
"What a Joy" he is experiencing out there serving the Lord.

Here he is with his companion Elder Blake, Elder Juan A. Uceda of the Seventy and his wife, and President and Sister Bickman. He LOVES these people!
The people of Brazil are so receptive to the gospel and Dallin has experienced so much success with baptism over the last 22 months...
He meets people everyday who love the Lord and his servants...
It seems that everyone wants to follow the missionaries! ;)...and Jesus too.  ;)
This cute little guy was following Dallin so he just had to pick him up. He said he fell right to sleep once he put him on his satchel. :)
Do you see the white shirt and tie guy, RIGHT in the middle of everyone??
Yep! That's Dallin!
Helping to bring others closer to the Savior.
Dallin has 8 weeks left on his mission, and he is still going strong...
…because the field is white all ready to harvest!
Some yummy little pizzas that him and 2 other elders got to eat!
Here is a funny picture that Dallin shared too...he said he has never seen a cat just sitting like that! He thought it was hilarious! ;)
And...the kids are back!
Everyone took a turn talking to their brother in Brazil, and it was such a good feeling to have some of my children back under my wing...
We unpacked from Hawaii, and finished packing for trek, and then had a yummy dinner together and played some fun games. Little Kesslyn had fun trying to keep Maisy out of trouble too1 ;)
Welcome home kids!

29 Years

On Friday, July 1st, Clint and I celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary!
Clint took the day off so that we could spend the entire weekend together, and it was SO nice. :)
We started off the day by watching the new  Indiana Jones movie.
I love the movies! It's so much fun seeing everything on the big screen, and feeling like you are actually IN the movie. ;) It was like we saved the world together before lunch time!
Speaking of lunch time, we grabbed some pizza to ea before we headed up to Deer Valley where we would be staying for the night.
We actually received a gift certificate from a business partner for Christmas that we still hadn't used, so we decided to use it and go and visit this new place.
We stayed at the Stein Erikson Lodge which was a beautiful 5 star resort that made you feel like royalty!
Being up at the resort and in the beautiful upper mountains really made you feel like you were somewhere far off in another country.
The views from our balcony were so beautiful. You could see so much of the valley, and the chair lift to the mountains were right there too...
We had steak, shrimp, and king crab legs for our dinner, at Grub Steak and again felt like royalty!
The drive up the mountain pass to the resort was lined with beautiful trees that were all lit up with lights...
The road was also lined with an alternating between the American and Norwegian flags...
Everything up there was in the tradition of Norway, like the people who founded this resort.
We LOVED our cozy robes and fancy Norwegian chocolates...
We sat in the hot tub together out on the deck 3 times, and it still wasn't enough for me! ;)
We also ate our desserts that we were too full to eat at night, and enjoyed them for breakfast out on the balcony with the morning sun warming us and saying "Hello!"
These were the chocolates that they put on our nightstands. ;)
On Saturday morning it was our real anniversary day, and we had an appointment at the Jordan River temple where we performed sealings. It was one of my favorite parts of the day!
We also had a kind lady offer to take our picture there. She was there with a large group of returned missionaries from the Korea mission where her and her husband served as mission presidents.
After she took our picture, I went over and took pictures of their group for them. It made my heart happy to see so many good people out there visiting the temple and adding so much goodness and light to the world.
After the temple and taking a few minutes to drop off some trek gear for my kids upcoming pioneer trek that they will be going on soon, Clint and I tackled the 96 degree weather and went to play pickle ball!
I felst SO accomplished in beating Clint2 of the 5 times we played...that is until he informed me that he was playing me with his left hand! I guess I have a lot of practicing to do before I will be able to beat him. ;)
After some Mexican food for dinner and another night at the movies ;) we came home and crashed from all of the fun. :) It was an awesome weekend celebrating each other and our loving marriage relationship. As we talked about the things we have experienced over the years, we asked each other to share our thoughts about what we felt was the strength of our marriage. We both agreed that it was the temple! We have attended the temple faithfully and regularly since the day we were first sealed, and it has only brought us closer to one another, and closer to the Savior. We also agreed that there was also things like going on dates, communicating well, learning how to be humble and forgive, and on and on and on...There are many things that it takes to have a successful marriage, and one of those things is to keep treating each other like your number one priority, and never let anything ever come between you, big or small. Keep the Savior and Heavenly Father involved in ALL of your decisions and you will never go wrong.
It's been an amazing weekend, and an amazing way to start the 4th of July celebration too. As we left the movie theater at 1:00 in the morning, this beautiful flag was waving in front of the big and bright full moon, and it immediately filled my heart with so much gratitude.
We have the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. We have an amazing eternal family. We live in the BEST country in the world, and I get to share every day and every adventure with my BEST friend. I love you Clint! Happy anniversary! I look forward too all the adventures that still lie ahead of us! I can't imagine doing it without you!

(We also went to Clint's dad's house on Sunday to welcome Clint's brother Chad and his family Mayumi, Steve, and Luke home to Utah! He just retired from the military and they have moved here from Japan to start their new adventure! I am so excited to have them back!)
