Trek and the 4th of July

July 5th - the day after our country's Independence Day, Gavin and Kambriella set out on the Riverton Summerhill Stake Youth Trek! They were excited and SO CUTE!
Gavin was walking for his 5th great grandfather, Reynolds Cahoon.
Reynolds was a faithful saint and leader in the early days of the church. He was on the temple committee when it was time for the Nauvoo temple to be built, and he was also a member of one of the first stake presidencies.
One day shortly after the birth of his youngest don, Reynolds was at home when the Prophet Joseph Smith was walking by. Reynolds asked the prophet to please come in and bless his baby. When he did, he gave the baby the name of Mahonri Moriancumer Cahoon. The prophet Joseph told Reynolds that it was revealed to him in the blessing that this should be the baby's name, and that this was also the name of the brother of Jared.
He seems like a cool dude.
Kambriella is trekking for her 4th great grandmother Janet Urquhart.
She was born on July 8th, 1804 in Invernes-shire Scotland. She arrived in New York on the S.S. Minnesota, had 12 children, and is buried in the Salt Lake City cemetery. She doesn't have a headstone there, but she is burred next to her husband James Leathem's headstone.
One thing that is really cool about this, is that there is a castle called the Urquhart castle that is found in Scotland, and we will be visiting there in just a few weeks! Clint and I are taking my mom, and my sister Tiffany and her husband Colby. We will be seeing for the first time the area where our family actually came from.
We are SO excited!
Yesterday we also had a fun party at the Gailey's home celebrating the 4th of July.
It was a fun evening complete with piƱata's for the kids and teenagers...
Lots of fun games like missionary tag, 9 Square, Bottle Bash, and Cornhole...
Yummy good food, and lots of catching up with everyone!
Gavin brought his friend Meagan, and some of the other cousins also had some friends there too. ;)
My sister Tiffany and Colby were there too. ;)
I am so grateful for the freedoms that we enjoy, and I know that it is hard to comprehend all that has been sacrificed for us...but I am still SO GRATEFUL...especially for my freedom of religion. I am so grateful that we get to worship how, where, and what we may.
Happy Independence Day everyone! And happy trekking Gavin and Kambriella!
