Over the weekend Gavin participated in the State Track and Field competition at BYU!
It was a beautiful spring day with a TON of people there!
We did have a pretty good cheering section too! Carew, Kara, Kambriella, Kesslyn, Clint, Blake, Brier, Curt, and Sara were all a part of our cheering section! :)
Brier was also there competing too, and actually took 1st in her relay! We were so proud of our kids!!
Gavin spent his time out in the center of the field (purple shorts and wolfpack tank)...
He jumped the high jump clearing 5'10", but not clearing 6'.
He was a little disappointed because he was hoping to get an individual PR that day, but it just didn't happen. Coach JJ and Janelle were very proud of Gavin, and so was I!
We have so much to look forward to next year!
Gavin and I attended the track team banquet at the Bluffdale city park. Clint joined us a little later too, but it was fun to be there with so many amazing kids.
We had a potluck dinner and BBQ followed by field games of all kinds...volleyball, soccer, 9 square, and spikeball... The sky started thundering and lightening, so they hurried through the awards...
Gavin earned a Varsity letter on his first year of participating in track! Way to go Gavin!!!
He was also awarded the New to the Pack Award that they give to an outstanding athlete who just started track. Yep, that was Gavin! OUTSTANDING!!!
Way to go Buddy! We are so proud of you!!!
