Kesslyn and Eila had such a fun time yesterday on their continued summer cousin adventure!
We visited the Thanksgiving Point butterfly biosphere where we chased butterflies for hours!!!
In the butterfly biosphere, you are allowed to handle the butterflies very gently with just one finger, and so we walked around looking, watching, following, and chasing the butterflies until we finally got to hold one!
Kesslyn was the first one to catch one. There were SO many different colors and types of butterflies! The one Kesslyn is holding had the most beautiful iridescent blue on the inside of it's wings...
This little butterfly was the most unique and delicate looking butterfly I had ever seen! It is called a glass-winged butterfly, because their wings are transparent and literally look like a piece of glass!
SO beautiful!!!
Eila tried and tried and tried so hard to catch a butterfly, but they would fly away right as she would touch them. So, Kesslyn kept trying to catch them and hand them off to Eila, and that's exactly what they finally did!
Eila was so happy that she finally got to hold one of the beautiful butterflies!
After we were done in the biosphere, we played on the playground, where Kesslyn and Eila dressed up as butterflies too!
We also made our way over to the Museum of Ancient History to see the dinosaurs!
They dressed up as pterodactyls, and then played in the water table with water, sand, and lots of little toy dinosaurs! Even little dinosaurs that would light up! We happened to go on the perfect day because they were doing a fun activity called Dino's After Dark, and they dimmed the lights, turned up some fun party music, and had all kinds of fun activities for the kids.
They brought in some baby dinosaurs that the kids could pet and ask questions about...
..they had fun games to play in the party atmosphere...
...and of course lots of dinosaurs to see...
The prehistoric sea turtles...
Giant and SCARY sharks...
Not so wooly Mammoths...
...and a triceratops that could walk and talk with the kids! ;)
Kesslyn and Eila also did some digging for fossils, and even got to crack open their very own geodes!!!
(The pictures of cracking the geodes are very blurry because I took screenshots of the videos I took and forgot to only take a picture...but at least you can get an idea of how they did it!)
Meanwhile...back in Hawaii these kids are still having an amazing time!
They visited a lunch place called Farm to Barn where they ate purple buns with their burgers!
They also visited the Dole Plantation and ate yummy Dole whips!
My favorite...Kierra and Kambriella had a sister date and went to get pedicures while Gavin stayed behind while the babies were napping.
Way to party in the summer, kids!!!
