One of our very favorite things about Christmas time is the music! Nothing can bring the spirit in like beautiful music!
Knowing how much Dallin had loved going to Christmas concerts in the past, I decided that it would be the perfect date opportunity for him and I! :)
So, I checked him out of school, headed over to the mall where they were providing FREE Christmas concerts, grabbed a pretzel and a drink, and headed over to listen to the performers and enjoy all of the fun.
We were lucky to get to hear 2 amazing artists...Cherie Call and Alex Boye!
Cherie invited the Spirit in with her beautiful original song "I Just Knew," a song written from the perspective of Mary the Mother of Jesus. I felt so happy just standing there listening, and Dallin put his arm around me feeling the same way, I'm sure. :)
Then, Alex entertained and helped everyone to dance and have fun like he always does!
He invited anyone to come up on stage to dance and sing along, and so Dallin being the good sport that he is, jumped up on stage and started wiggling around in his "dancing shoes!" It was the cutest thing ever, and I thought to myself,
"This really WAS the perfect date opportunity!!!
I had no idea that he would get to interact so much and have so much fun!!!"
Another fun thing was that one of Dallin's good friends Annie from our neighborhood happened to be there too, and she jumped right up on stage too!! It was perfect! :)
At one point though Alex stopped the singing and invited EVERYONE to stand up and sing, dance, and join in...soooo, Dallin ran down off stage and picked up his baby sister Kesslyn and took her up on stage too! They were so cute up there together dancing around and having a ball!
Now, Dallin has the privilege of telling all his friends that
HE got to be one of Alex Boye's back up dancers! ;)
Dallin has such a tender and caring, genuine heart.
I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon with him and hated having to take him back to school!
But, in my heart I was so happy that we got to have such a memorable afternoon together! I felt a little busy and wondered if my schedule would allow for time to just go sit back and relax for a couple of hours...
but I KNEW that this date needed to happen. I KNEW that if I made time for the important things, (like a date with Dallin) that everything else would fall in to place. And it did! Heavenly Father is awesome like that! Just when you think you're not sure how things will work out, He comes right along and blesses you in better ways than you ever could have imagined on your own...
Dallin, thank you for all you do to bless the lives of your family, friends, and neighbors.
You are an awesome kid with such an amazing heart. You are a good friend to everyone, you are obedient and kind, you care more about others feelings than you do your own, and you are such a good leader!
The Christ like attributes that you have been blessed with are really shining bright and it's so fun to see you learn how to use them, increase them, and brighten the world with them.
YOU are a bright light and the Spirit that others feel around you is the same sweet feeling that I feel when I hear the beautiful Christmas music...sweet and peaceful. :)
